How CarnoSyn® beta-alanine works. As the name suggests, CarnoSyn beta-alanine is important for carnosine synthesis.* Beta-alanine is a pre-cursor to carnosine. It joins with the amino acid histidine through a peptide bond to form carnosine in the muscle. Muscle carnosine is the major buffering agent, or neutralizer, of hydronium ions that lead to muscle fatigue and failure. By increasing the amount of carnosine in the muscle, CarnoSyn beta-alanine both increases an athlete's peak performance and speeds muscle recovery.* 

CarnoSyn beta-alanine in the body. Why provide beta-alanine instead of carnosine? Ingesting carnosine is costly and ineffective. Ingested carnosine is broken down into beta-alanine and histidine in the body, and delivers only micro amounts of carnosine to the bloodstream. Research has shown that enough histidine is naturally present in the body to form muscle carnosine. The limiting factor in positively impacting the synthesis of muscle carnosine is beta-alanine.*  When supplemented, beta-alanine combines with naturally occurring histidine to more effectively increase carnosine in muscle.*
