Behind The Brand: Dr. Di Tan, Director of Scientific Affairs for CarnoSyn® Brands

“Paradox: a situation, person, or thing that combines contradictory features or qualities.” When you meet Dr. Di Tan, Director of Scientific Affairs for CarnoSyn​^®​ Brands—the word paradox just seems to come to mind. Maybe it’s the fact that she has an office full of cartoon trinkets, drives a light blue Fiat to work, and lives in a house in the country with a zip line (yep, you heard me…a zip line)—all while being the innovative mind behind CarnoSyn^® Brands with an incredibly impressive educational and professional background in the food science and technology field. To say the least, Dr. Tan leaves you wanting to know more. Keep reading to do so.

What do you like most about being the Director of Scientific Affairs for CarnoSyn^® ​Brands?

Drugging people—for good reason—science, of course. However, I tend to limit my “drugging” to CarnoSyn^®​ beta-alanine. I love exploring this new era, where we’re expanding the brand beyond sports nutrition into wellness and healthy aging.

What is something people might not know about you?

I published a tour-guide book in Taiwan from informatics writing, photos and graphic painting.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I love France the most. I love how free they are.

Do you have any secret talents?

I don’t. Nothing is secret. Everyone knows that I was the marching band director in high school, performing in front of the president all the time, right? (Note from the editor: no, we did in fact not know that, Di.)

How do you incorporate CarnoSyn^®​ into your day-to-day life?

I am advising more and more of my friends and family to take it as I read and perform the research. My dad is a 93-year-old CarnoSyn​^®​ user, and I think he climbs up the little hill around my house faster and faster.

What’s your go-to work out right now?

Walking around my lavender farm while yelling at my two golden retrievers—no better workout if you ask me.

What three movies (or books) would you take with you on a deserted island?

It sounds sad, but “The Hours”, “The Legend of 1900”, and maybe a silly one like the “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.”
